Production expansion at the Besigheim site | 25.09.2007
The building of a new production building in Besigheim is clear acknowledgement of the location of the KOMET GROUP in Germany. With the investment in the highly modern coating system for cutting materials and a new competence and training centre, the Group aims to secure and expand its innovative lead. The new coating technology and equipment will provide the potential to meet the increasing demand for an extremely wide variety of coatings; at the same time the PCD coatings area is being significantly expanded and the development of new surface and cutting edge treatment technology further advanced.

The KOMET GROUP, worldwide supplier of solutions in bore machining, is on course for growth | 25.09.2007
An annual growth in turnover of more than 10% is expected for 2007. And targets are also being met in operational results, as director of KOMET GROUP Holding GmbH, Dr. Christof Bönsch reports at EMO 2007 in Hanover. For the future KOMET sees even more potential for growth both at home and abroad.
Dr. Christof Bönsch, technology and marketing director, says: “The precision tools market finds itself in a strong growth phase. KOMET will share this growth with its four brands, KOMET, Dihart, JEL and X3 -Solutions. We will therefore be expanding our production capacity throughout the world and investing strongly in Eastern Europe and Asia. But the focal point for our investment will be Germany where, in addition to a considerable increase in capacity, we are building a training and customer centre which will be ready by the beginning of 2008.”
Matthias Heinz, commercial director, also adds: “We have created an investment programme for KOMET which, along with investments in production capacity, also provides for significant advances in research & development and marketing. This will prepare us for the future and set the course for further growth.”
In 2006 KOMET achieved a consolidated turnover of 154 million Euro. With an export quota of almost 60%, more than 90 million Euro was drawn from Europe. The strongest growth in sales, however, is currently attributed to Asia where KOMET operates its own sister companies in China, Japan and India. KOMET has continued its international expansion this year with the foundation of sister companies in Russia and the Czech Republic. As Bernd Hofmann, director of the KOMET GROUP GmbH says: “This has secured our market position in Eastern Europe. We see the foundation of the Russian company as an investment in an important market for the future.”
Over the next few years KOMET will also make significant efforts in the area of production innovation. Dr. Bönsch adds: “With REAMAX TS® at EMO we are introducing a completely new system of modular design reaming tools. The new connection between tool holder and reaming head sets new levels for precision and for minimising setting time. With this innovation and our mechatronic tool system “KomTronic®”, the other development we are also introducing at EMO, we have met customer demands for economic solutions for tasks at the frontiers of feasibility.”
KOMET also expects this positive climate for business to continue in 2008.
