KOMET's success story starts with the company being founded in 1918 by Robert Breuning, an ingenious pioneer and inventor. Since then, the company has registered over 900 patents, and developed numerous new products. Their range of products and services has seen continuous and consistent growth in recent decades.
1918 Robert Breuning founds the company.
1924 The name "KOMET" is introduced.
1948 The company moves to Besigheim, which continues to be the location of KOMET's headquarters to this day.
1970 First facing slide tools developed
1977 The KOMET KUB® indexable insert drill is introduced.
1981 A patent is registered for the KOMET ABS® modular tool clamping system.
1991 M040 digital precision boring head developed and launched
1996 Entry into the reamer manufacturing sector.
1997 The development of PCD tools for high-speed machining gathers pace.
1999 Entry into the threading tool manufacturing sector.
2000 TechCenter opened in Besigheim, Germany as a centre for technology and customer tests. New generation of KUB Quatron® drills developed and launched.
2008 The IDEEN-FABRIK+ meeting and conference centre is opened.
2011 KOMET is recognised for the second time as one of the 100 most innovative companies in the country. The foundation stone for the rebuilt central warehouse is laid in Besigheim. Entry into the diamond coating and lightweight tools sectors.
2012 A system for process monitoring is introduced.
2013 Honing on the machining centre with KOMET KomTronic® U-axis system and Xstep® honing tools
2014 Introduction of the new range of indexable insert milling cutters
2015 A comprehensive Industry 4.0 solution for machining: A variety of apps for the ToolScope monitoring system
